What’s Happening with the Hops
First, we’ll recap quickly what’s been going on over the past month! On September 21st the Hops and the City of Hillsboro had a ground breaking ceremony for the new stadium to be built at the Gordon Faber Recreation Complex. Over 200 people attended the event despite the morning drizzle.
On October 16th we released our team name and logo and we have received an amazing response! On just Tuesday alone we had over 550 new “likes” on Facebook and had a lot of national reaction as well (see Minor League Baseball, SB Nation, and Sports Logos News).
The response with regards to season ticket purchases has far exceeded our expectations. Hops fans are excited to get in early so they secure the best seats for the inaugural season.
Currently we are working on finalizing the uniform designs for our home, road, and batting practice jerseys. Keep an eye out in the next few months for our “fashion show” event where we will show off the uniform designs and have merchandise available for purchase. We are also working with New Era on our new hat designs. We have received the first draft of them and hopefully will have the design finalized soon. The on-field caps (the 59FIFTY for home and road and 39THIRTY batting practice) will take approximately three months to arrive after the design is finalized, however, we hope to have some adjustable caps available after the uniform reveal. For those who have asked about t-shirts, we have ordered them and they should be here *any day*.
The stadium progress is going very well and the contractors are well ahead of schedule. They have worked hard taking advantage of the mild weather.
That’s what’s happening here in Hillsboro – we will update as we see progress at the stadium and receive our merchandise and uniforms. In December we will be heading to Nashville for the annual Baseball Winter Meetings and we will be keeping you updated with behind-the-scenes information and pictures.

I am so excited to have baseball in Portland. With the Eugene Emeralds an hour south of me, the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes five minutes from my house and now the Hillsboro Hops less than an hour north of me I’ll never be bored from mid June to Sept 1st.
The 2013 season should be a lot of fun.
